WARNING
BEFORE USING THE DEVICE, CHECK IT FOR ANY SIGNS OF DAMAGE. IF THERE IS VISIBLE DAMAGE, DO NOT USE THE DEVICE AND CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER.
Unpack the device. Check if the package contains all of the components ordered:
Make sure that device is not visibly damaged. If there is visible damage, do not use the devices and contact the manufacturer.
Place the device in a 4U rack space or on a horizontal surface. It’s allowed to place GRANDO RM vertically or horizontally.
When installing in a 4U rack space, the rack mount handles kit should be attached to the device. GRANDO RM should be installed on the special 19” guide rails or shelf (should be purchased on a separate basis).
Mount handle (1) to the right panel (2) using screws (3). Check fastener tightening torque. Repeat for the left panel.
Mount inner rail (2) to the right panel (1) using fasteners (3) and screws (4). Repeat for the left panel.
Mount the outer rail (2) to the inner rail (1): slide the outer rail until the lock is closed. Repeat for the left pane.
Mount legs (1) to right panel (2) using screws (3) and washers (4). Check fastener tightening torque.
Your system includes Comino Energia power supply unit (PSU) containing up to 4 power modules (PM), 1600W each. Each PM supports the following Source connection standards:
EACH POWER MODULE SHALL OPERATE WITHIN LIMITED INPUT VOLTAGE RANGE AS DEFINED IN TABLE
Min | Rated | Max | Unit | |
---|---|---|---|---|
AC Input Voltage | 90 | 100-240 | 264 | VAC |
Frequency | 47 | 50-60 | 63 | Hz |
DC Input Voltage | 192 | 240-336 | 400 | VDC |
Input Current | <15A@100-127Vac@full load, <10A@200-240Vac/160-340Vdc@full load |
Maximum inrush current for each PM is 35A. Please consider this when designing your power network.
If one branch is supplying 2 PMs, please use a C25 circuit breaker. For supplying each PM separately, please install a C16 circuit breaker in each branch.
Power Supply Unit is certified with 80 Plus Platinum level certificate of efficient energy use. Maximum efficiency reaches 94% at 50% load.
The output connector ground pins should be connected to the safety ground (power supply enclosure). This grounding should be well designed to ensure passing the max allowed common mode noise levels. The power supply should be provided with a reliable protective earth ground. All secondary return circuits should be connected to protective earth ground.
LED COLOR | POWER SUPPLY STATUS |
---|---|
Green | Normal operation, status OK |
Green, flashing (approxi• mately every second) | Standby mode |
Green, slow flashing (approximately every 3 seconds) | Low power mode (saves energy) |
No color | No input power |
Orange, flashing (approximately every second) |
! Attention required ! Warning events: high temperature warning, fan fail warning, over current warning. |

! Attention required! AC cord unplugged or DC power lost. |

! Attention required! Power supply critical event causing a shutdown: UVP, OVP, OCP, OTP. |
Comino Energia Power Modules are server-oriented hot swap power modules. They work in parallel meaning all the workload is divided among them. In case one of the PMs is redundant or out of order the system continues working as the workload is divided between the remaining working PMs.
To replace the PMs unplug the power cord, hold the blue lever and pull it (see Pic). Pull out the non-working PM. Replace it with a working PM and plug the power cord. Check that the green LED-indicator is on.
The PM redundancy type of your Comino server determines how many PMs are needed for the machine to start and run properly. There are two types of PM redundancy: 3+1 and 2+2. The 3+1 type requires at least 3 PMs to be online, while the 2+2 type requires at least 2 PMs to be online. If the number of online PMs falls below the minimum requirement, the server will shut down immediately.
Connect all (up to 3) AC power cables to each of the power supply units of GRANDO RM. All PSUs should be powered for correct Device operation.
Your system includes Comino Energia power supply unit (PSU) containing up to 3 SFX Power Supply Units (PSUs), 750 or 1000W each or up to 2 ATX-L PSU 1500 or 2000W each depending on configuration.
Each PSU supports line to neutral 110-220V AC and EU standards connection (50/60Hz US and EU standards). It is allowed to connect different PSUs to different lines.
DANGER
ELECTRICITY WORKS MUST BE COORDINATED WITH A CERTIFIED ELECTRICIAN. UNAUTHORIZED WORKS CAN COST YOU YOUR LIFE.
WARNING
THE POWER SUPPLY SHALL OPERATE WITHIN LIMITED INPUT VOLTAGE RANGE AS DEFINED IN TABLE 1.
PARAMETER | MIN | Nom | MAX | UNIT |
---|---|---|---|---|
Vin | 90 | 100-240 | 264 | VACrms |
Vin Frequency | 47 | 60-50 | 63 | Hz |
The power Source must meet inrush requirements for any rated AC voltage, during turn on at any phase of AC voltage, during a single cycle AC dropout condition, during repetitive ON/OFF cycling of AC, and over the specified temperature rang. The peak inrush current shall be less than the ratings of its critical components (including input fuse, bulk rectifiers, and surge limiting device).
Each PSU is supplied with a fast blow type fuse in the live line input wire. It protects PSU from the short circuit inside of it.
Line fuse is resistant to starting current or inner protection circuits.
In case a line fuse is blown up, please check internal components of the PM for damages or contact the developer.
Power Supply Unit is certified with an 80 Plus Platinum level certificate of efficient energy use. Maximum efficiency reaches 94% at 220 Vin and 50% load.
